2023 COLOR TREND SEASON

Fall is exciting for a number of reasons; leaves dropping their summer greens for warmer tones, pumpkin spice everything, and the true staple - “sweatah weathah”. For designers, fall means trend setting season. The season when paint companies and fashion houses announce their “colors of the year” for the next trip around the sun.

Color is highly inspiring, setting a match to creative fires. It is also deeply tied to emotion, memory, and “vibes”, as the kids say. All this adds up to one of our favorite times of the year, and, lattes aside, we’re sharing all the goodness with you.

Redend Point

First out of the gates is Sherwin Williams’ 2023 Color of the Year: Redend Point. A muted pink mid-tone neutral, this paint color is reminiscent of desert landscapes in late sunset without beating your room over the head with saturation. Warm and comforting, this shade is at once relaxing and joyous. As such, our designers foresee uses for this color as serene accents in rooms where leisure time is spent connecting with friends and family over coffee or cocktails. Think decorative millwork, fireplace surrounds, or take the classic SNI move and add it to your ceiling.

Darkroom

HGTV Home took a different turn with their 2023 Color of the Collection: Vintage Homestead. The color standout in this collection is Darkroom, a lovely black shade layered under dusty purple timed beautifully with the Halloween season. The colors in this collection are meant to surround with deeply saturated color that is grounded rather than bright. They are nostalgic and romantic, impactful yet comforting. Set a daring, quixotic tone with these paint colors on the full walls of intimate spaces such as bedrooms, kitchen nooks, and the coolest of monochromatic libraries.

We also look to Pantone for inspiration. They define and track all things color trend, especially for use in the fashion industry.  They’ve distilled New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2023 into a palette of colors that are bright and lively in a can’t-look-away kinda way.  Our interior designer Emily has translated these ultra vibrant colors into lighting and furnishing selections that would punch up any space into an inspired showplace. More to come! Benjamin Moore will release their version of the 2023 Color Trends later in October. Look out for those details in our next newsletter!
